So in doing more research on the GPD Win3 I found out that there were a few different companies out there who were making portable windows gaming handhelds. Well in my case when heard about the steam deck it was shortly after GPD had released the Win3, which I had already wanted to get one. But I also understand why they might not want to do that. It would be nice if Valve would share information about how many reservations there actually are, how many products are being shipped weekly, etc. Being After Q3 right now could mean at the end of this year (very doubtful) or it could mean the end of next year. I just wish Valve would be a little more transparent about the queue. So I don't think I really need high performance.īut, the mouse and keyboard thing would probably be an issue with a lot of the games I play.

I really don't play AAA games, online multiplayer games, or FPS games. I didn't think twice about dropping close to $3,000 on a gaming laptop. I saw one handheld that I was actually really interested in, but it looked like it was a kick starter that had only sold very few copies so I was skeptical. As long as it would play the games in my Steam Library.Īnd I appreciate the perspective about the manufacturers. If there was a handheld that I could just go to the store and buy today, even if it was around $1,200, I would probably do it without questions. I really want that in my hot little grubby hands! Yeah, I definitely won't cancel my reservation for the Steam Deck. If you already have something else and enjoy it, what is it?Īgain, you have the discretionary money to spend.

If you had the money and were in my position in the Steam Deck reservation queue, would you buy something else or would you just wait? So my question is that now that I have discovered that other handhelds can actually play my Steam Library, which is pretty much all I want, would it be worth buying something else while I wait?

Which means, that unless production and distribution significantly increases, I am probably really in Q1, Q2, or even Q3 of 2023. I am currently listed as After Q3, but I have heard that people who reserved in July are also After Q3. Now, I reserved the highest option for the Steam Deck, but I didn't reserve until 9/25.so about 2 months after the reservations started.

My son has a Switch, but I didn't know there were other devices like the Aya Neo and Onexplayer. I have been following the Steam Deck, but I didn't realize there were already portable handhelds out there that would let me play my Steam Library. Apparently, I have been out of the loop and living in a cave. So, just curious what other people think.
